ABOUT DR. GREGG BARINGOLDZ
Following his doctoral studies, Dr. Baringoldz completed his clinical internship at the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda Maryland where his rotations included inpatient, outpatient, and consultation-liaison psychiatry and psychology services. He then was transferred to the Naval Hospital in Long Beach California where he headed the Psychology Division of the Department of Mental Health. Dr. Baringoldz was able to gain a wide range of experience treating active duty personnel from all military branches, their dependents, retirees, and other government workers. In addition, he had the opportunity to become involved in assessing and treating personnel involved in military disasters, and to work with attorneys from the Judge Advocates General’s Corp in assisting them with psychological evaluations and treatment of personnel involved in the military justice system. Dr. Baringoldz was also deployed to the Middle East during the Desert Shield/Storm conflict, treating wounded military personnel.
After resigning his commission as a Naval Officer in 1991, Dr. Baringoldz entered private practice, further developing his skills in the assessment and treatment of psychological disorders in both inpatient and outpatient settings. He also expanded his forensic practice, initially performing fitness for duty evaluations and independent medical evaluations in psychology.
As his practice continued to develop, he was able to expand his skills in treating geriatric patients with psychological issues, and in assessing for competency and conservatorship placement, which involved him assessing and testifying in hundreds of such cases in Los Angeles County’s Superior Court’s Mental Heath Court. Dr. Baringoldz also has gained significant additional experience and expertise in performing multiple types of medical/legal evaluations in the areas of workers’ compensation, personal injury, assessment of malingering, testifying as an expert witness, and record reviews.
In addition to maintaining a robust and multifaceted clinical and forensic practice predominantly in the Los Angeles and Orange County areas, Dr. Baringoldz has provided training and supervision for psychological and social work interns, trainees, and Psychological Associates.
